Duplicated conformity assessments for the same or similar criteria, without guaranteed global acceptance, can lead to significant inconveniences for end users, particularly organizations that primarily operate in international markets. By utilizing the services of an accredited Conformity Assessment Body (CAB), users can mitigate these inconveniences and effectively address non-tariff trade barriers. In response to the need for globally accepted conformity assessments, KAB has maintained full membership status within international organizations such as the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) since 1996. These organizations manage Multilateral Recognition Arrangements (MLA/MRA) for global conformity assessment recognition. They ensure the quality of KAB's accreditation services and the worldwide acceptance of KAB-accredited conformity assessments. Currently, KAB's accreditation schemes that are globally recognized through IAF MLA and APAC MRA are listed in the following table.
The purpose of the Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA/MRA) is to ensure mutual recognition of accredited certification and validation/verification statements among signatories to the MLA/MRA. This subsequently facilitates the acceptance of accredited certification and validation/verification statements in multiple markets, all based on a single Accreditation. Accreditations granted by MLA/MRA signatories are recognized globally, thanks to their equivalent accreditation programs. This recognition reduces costs and adds value to businesses and consumers Alike. Accreditation Body Members of IAF/APAC gain admission to the MLA/MRA only after undergoing a rigorous evaluation of their operations by a peer evaluation team.
